The film Dinosaur Island I went with my younger brother Dave to see it last Friday. I had a great time, but he didn't. He closed (闭上) his eyes in many parts because the dinosaurs (恐龙) looked so real and he didn't laugh once. I thought the story was really exciting. I'd like to buy the DVD and watch it at home again. I’m Mary. I’m a movie lover and I want my kids to like movies, too. The first time I took my daughter, Lily, to the movie theater, she was six years old and the movie was Bambi. I chose it because I thought a cartoon movie would be good to her.
Everything was going just fine and Bambi was so lovely. However, when a man killed Bambi’s mother, my daughter became very sad and asked to go home. So we left in the middle of the movie. Later I chose movies more carefully and my daughter watched many great ones. Luckily, she likes movies as much as I do now.
My worry is: Are cartoons really safe for kids Once I sat on the sofa to watch a carton with my 8-year-old son, Bill. I got dumbfounded when I saw a cartoon character was bleeding in front of us. The cartoon was like an action movie for adults!
The next time you take a kid to the movie theater, be careful! Maybe a cartoon isn’t the best. You should take the time to watch it first (It’s a habit with me). Or the kid may get messages he or she isn’t ready to get yet.

A. it was a boring movie B. she felt quite tired
C. the movie made her feel sad D. she found Bambi was not lovely

A. Most cartoons are not safe for kids.
B. Young kids shouldn’t go to the movie theater.
C. Parents should watch cartoons with their kids.
D. Parents should choose movies carefully for their kids.

A friend of mine, in response to a conversation about the fairness (公平) and unfairness of life, asked me the question, “Who said life was going to be fair, or that it was even meant to be fair ” Her question was a good one. It reminded me of something I was taught as a youngster: Life isn’t fair. It’s a bummer, which is not easy to accept, but absolutely true.
One of the mistakes many of us make is that we feel sorry for ourselves, or for others. We keep thinking that life should be fair, or that someday it will be. However, the truth is life is not and it won’t be fair.
One of the nice things about admitting (承认) this fact is that it stops us from feeling sorry for ourselves by encouraging us to do the very best we can with all we have. We know it’s not “life’s job” to make everything perfect. It’s our own difficulty to overcome. Admitting this fact also stops us from feeling sorry for others because we are reminded that everyone is dealt a different hand. Everyone has their own strengths and problems in the process of growing up, facing the reality and making decisions. And everyone has those times that they feel cheated or unfairly treated.
The fact that life isn’t fair doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do everything in our power to improve our own lives or the world as a whole. Instead, it suggests that we should. When we don’t recognize or admit that life isn’t fair, we tend to feel pity (可怜) for others and for ourselves. Pity is a self-defeating (自我挫败的) emotion that does nothing good for anyone. It only makes people feel worse than they already do. When we do recognize that life isn’t fair, however, we feel compassion for others and for ourselves. And compassion is a heartfelt emotion that delivers loving-kindness to everyone it touches.
The next time you find yourself thinking about the unfair world, try reminding yourself of this very basic fact. You may be surprised that it can make you take helpful actions and push you out of self-pity.
20. The underlined word “bummer” in the first paragraph probably means ________.
A. good chance B. upset fact C. hard choice D. important lesson
21. According to the passage, who understands unfairness best
A. Lily stops feeling sorry and begins to do the very best she can. B. Sam feels angry about unfairness and keeps talking about it. C. Amy thinks life will be fair someday through her efforts. D. Derek keeps thinking life is unfair and feels sad about it.
22. The writer probably agrees that ________.
A. emotions like compassion make us feel worse B. it’s our life’s job to make everything perfect C. unfairness stops us from taking helpful actions D. we should admit that life isn’t and it won’t be fair
23. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage
A. Why is life unfair B. Should we accept life is unfair C. Can we make life fair D. What does fairness mean
D

According to a study in 2018, the food that people wasted in restaurants in 2015 was between 1.7 billion and 1.8 billion tons (吨). This is almost the food for 30 million to 50 million people a year.
Meituan and some other companies have called on restaurants to stop food waste and help develop new eating habits for customers. “Restaurants should encourage food-saving actions on the Internet,” Meituan said.
Meituan and other companies have asked restaurants to offer guidance for customers, including asking them to think about the taste, sizes and other information about the dishes before ordering, to help them avoid food waste.
Catering associations (餐饮协会) in more than 18 provinces also joined in the activity to avoid food waste. The China Cuisine Association said that it had teamed up with Eleme to begin a “half-dish plan”, encouraging restaurants to provide customers with the choice to order smaller dishes of food.
The Wuhan Catering Association began an “N-1” ordering rule for restaurants. For example, a group of 10 people would only order enough for nine people.
To stop food waste on social media platforms (社交媒体), popular Chinese video platforms such as Douyin and Kuaishou have become more serious with programmes about food.
Now if users search certain keywords, such as “eating show”, a message will be sent to the users to advise them not to waste food and eat healthily.
