Long long ago, a serious disease broke out in Beijing. Almost every family became sick, and many people were dying. Nothing seemed to help with the disease. People could do nothing but ask the moon goddess Chang’e for help.
Chang’e felt sad after learning about the disease in Beijing. She used her power to change her pet, Jade Rabbit, into a human. Then she sent Jade Rabbit to save the people. As soon as Jade Rabbit arrived in Beijing, she visited one family after another to treat(治疗) the sick people for free. People took her special medicine and got better quickly.
To show thanks for this excellent doctor, people all wanted to give her some gifts. But Jade Rabbit politely said no to all of them. She only borrowed some dresses and jackets so that she could change her clothes and look tidy every day. She also changed her looks. Sometimes she changed herself to be a young girl. Sometimes she changed herself to be an elderly man. Jade Rabbit was always busy with her work. She treated all the sick people successfully before that year’s Mid-Autumn Festival.
Jade Rabbit was tired. Before returning to the moon, she slept under a big tree. After she fell asleep, two long ears appeared on her head. People were surprised to know the secret---this excellent doctor was actually Jade Rabbit. The story won the hearts of people in Beijing.
Nowadays, in order to remember Jade Rabbit, people like to make model rabbits during the Mid-Autumn Festival. This kind of model has the head of a rabbit and the body of a human. Do you still remember the summer holiday last year When you think back on it, you might think of many of your happy times. But how do you store these things in your mind By using your memory.
Memory is the ability to remember things. Memorizing happens in a special area in our brain. When something happens, your brain records (记录) the important information and puts it in that area. That is what we call "memory". Scientists say that there are two kinds of memory—short-term memory and long-term memory. Your short-term memory can only last for a few seconds to a few minutes. But long-term memory is able to save information for a long period of time. People usually remember with short-term memory, and then forget things quickly after they experience them. They learn about something one day, but forget half of it the next day. A week later, they remember just a third of what they have learned. So people forget things easily without memorizing them again and again.
Scientists agree that people remember things in different ways. Some remember things better with the help of pictures. Others remember better when they take in the information by hearing it. But one thing is for sure: if you remember things in different ways together, you can get a better result. For example, try imaging pictures with English words, and at the same time listening to recordings of the words. Maybe studying English won't be a difficult thing.

D. People can get long-term memory by memorizing things again and again.
32. What is the passage mainly about
A. Some different types of memory.
B. Some difficulties in learning English.
C. Some interesting facts about memory.
D. Some ways to improve memory.

Scientist say they have invented the world's tiniest remote-controlled robot. The robots are small enough to sit on the side of a penny(便士). They don' have any power of their own, and they can be controlled from a distance by using lasers(激光器). The scientist say one day robots like these may be able to work in areas too small for tools.
The robots don't move very quickly. But given their tiny size, they also not too slow. It takes the robots about 20 seconds to cover 1 centimetre.
Right now the robots aren't all that useful. All they can do is move, and they need to be in a place where lasers can shine on them to do that. But the scientists say these robots are an important step towards creating more helpful tiny robots.
The researchers say that one day tiny robots like these might be able to work in very small spaces. It's possible that they could build very tiny machines, or perhaps even travel inside the human body to help deal with medical problems.
Using similar building methods, the scientists created a number of different robots, including ones that looked like worms, beetles, and crickets. John Rogers, one of the scientists, say that their methods allow them to " build walking robots with almost any sizes or 3D shapes".
33. How far can the tiniest remote-controlled robot walk in 5 minutes
A. 10 centimetres. B. 5 centimetres.
C. 3 centimetres. D. 15 centimetres.
34. What will the tiniest remote-controlled robots do for people
A. Work in a building. B. Work in a dangerous place.

Hello, Alice! We haven’t seen each other for almost a year. Let me tell you something about the successful English Week we had. It was held in the first week of November on the playground in our school. On the first day, to help the foreign students know more about Chinese culture, we held a play show. The students acted out Chinese stories in English. The excellent show made a great success. On the second day, in order to help us study better, we had an English speech. In the speech, the teacher gave us some advice on how to improve our memory. In addition, it provided some practical ways with us to remember English words while learning English. On the third day, we held a cooking show so that we can feel the charm of local food. It was so popular that most of the students took part in it. After we tried our best to cook the local food by ourselves, we shared and enjoyed the delicious food together.
What an unforgettable experience we had! Although we felt a bit tired, we had a good time. In my opinion, English Week is worth holding every year because it is a good way for us to practice our oral English. So I hope we will have more interesting activities during the English Week. What do you think about it
Hope to hear from you soon.
Yours,
Li Hua
