On the first day of school, our professor(教授) introduced a special classmate, a little old lady to us.
“Hi, my classmates. I’m Rose, eighty-seven years old.” We all laughed when hearing this.
“Of course you laugh!” She stopped for a while. “Why are you in college That’s because you are at such a young age. But I’m here just because I am not young.”
Over the course of the year, Rose became a model in the college. Everyone knew her and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to learn about anything that the young like.

My grandmother’s house is really important in my life. She lives in a small village in the south. I go to visit my grandmother every summer. I can get away from the city and relax.
The village is just a group of white houses on a hillside with some small shops. But it’s really peaceful.
Why do I like the village Because it’s a beautiful place. My grandmother has a lovely garden and we can sit under the trees, drinking sweet tea and chatting. It’s so pleasant. But the main reason why this place is so important to me is my grandmother herself. She is so kind to me and wonderful to talk to. Also, she’s a great cook and she prepares simple, but fresh and tasty meals. And she’s always giving me snacks during the day, so I always return home feeling calm and refreshed (清凉的) and fat!
I really love visiting my grandmother for the holidays. I admit(承认) that I probably couldn’t live somewhere like that all the time. It would be hard to live in a small village and everybody knows each other there. I’d rather live in busy, exciting place. We have to accept the truth: Sometimes, we just want to shout out loud.
For example, we all have days like this: our dog made a mess(搞成一团糟) on the floor we just cleaned, or our friend called to tell us he or she couldn’t come at the last minute when we cooked dinner for him or her. We might be really angry but we tried to tolerate things like those. According to ancient Chinese wisdom (至理名言), we should shout in a loud voice instead of keeping quiet. In fact, it’s good for our health.
“Chinese people have passed on(传递) the practice from ancient times to now as a part of traditional medicine.” said Mrs. Li, a 60-year-old woman from Hangzhou. “My parents taught me to do this. It’s a part of our folk (民俗的) culture.”
Mrs. Li is a member of a group of people who love shouting. Each morning, she and some of her friends climb to the top of a hill and let out loud shouts before starting their daily exercise. They believe that shouting is good exercise for their lungs (肺) and it brings them a lot of fun.
“Sometimes I shout out and others shout back,” said Mrs. Gu, another shouting lover. “It makes you happy. You laugh and then you feel very comfortable.”
Dr. Peter Calafiura, an American doctor, agrees that shouting can have a good influence(影响) on people’s health.
So, next time you start your morning run, why not try to shout out first It will make you healthier.

The elephant then went to a rabbit and asked the same question. The rabbit said, “You are too big to fit my burrow(洞穴), so I can’t be your friend.” The elephant also went to a frog and asked the same question. The frog said. “You are too heavy to jump as high as me, so I can’t be your friend.”
The elephant was sad. She couldn’t make friends! Then one day, she saw all the animals running into the forest. She asked a bear what was happening. The bear said, “The lion is hunting(狩猎) for food. They are running away from him.” The elephant went up to the lion and said, “Please don’t eat these animals!” The lion laughed and asked the elephant to leave. Then, the elephant got angry. Changes in My Hometown
With the help of the government, my hometown has changed a lot. At first, the buildings used to be so small and broken. There was always a lot of rubbish here and there. But now, the government is building many tall buildings. Cleaners clean the streets every day to keep them tidy. Secondly, people almost had nothing to do in their free time several years ago. Nowadays, there are different kinds of ways for people to spend their free time, such as going shopping, watching movies and so on. What’s more, people went out on foot before. However, there are more ways to choose than before. I hope my hometown will become better and better.
