Go, commonly known in China as weiqi, is a board game for two players. To win, one player must use black or white playing pieces, named stones, to surround (围) more areas.
The game was invented in China more than 2,500 years ago. It is one of the four Chinese traditional fine arts, along with playing guqin, writing and painting, so it owns a wide fan base in China. Now it is also popular in other parts of the world.
In Germany, the Berlin Go Association has worked together with the China Cultural Center to host The China Cup, which sees about 50 to 100 players each year. As the cooperation (合作) between China and Germany deepens, many Go training courses are offered, and sometimes professional players from China are invited to give talks to German Go lovers.
Andreas Urban, the chairman of Berlin Go Association, discovered a book on Go accidentally. “I tried to understand the rules, but I couldn't.” said Urban. Schreiber, the vice chairman, was introduced to the game 16 years ago by a classmate. “The first time I played Go, I even couldn't understand the rules.” he said. But both of them found the game more and more interesting after practice. “I advise children to learn Go. They can learn that there is always someone stronger and it's OK to lose. They can also learn how to improve from their mistakes and say tomorrow will be better than today.” said Schreiber.
To the experienced players, Go can be very addictive (上瘾的), as it is not just for fun, but also has a deeper cultural ground. When two players meet on the Go board, they follow the same rules, but may carry completely different methods. One of the best ways to improve is to play against someone who's stronger, as well as from different cultural backgrounds. This kind of cross - cultural communication helps the development of Go.

① Some people decide to stop eating meat and begin to accept a vegan (素食) diet because of health reasons. This way of eating avoids all animal products, including meat, fish, milk, eggs and even honey.
② Making the change can be a challenge for people who often have dairy and meat in their diet,
according to Dena Champion, a dietitian, an expert on diet and nutrition (营养学), from Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She added that starting a vegan diet could change your body in certain ways. It might even offer some health benefits.
③ Reduced body weight. Instead of high - fat proteins (高脂肪蛋白) like bacon and beef, vegans get their protein from plant - based sources such as tofu, beans, soy milk, and so on. “This can lead to losing weight. Considering that two - thirds of Americans are overweight, this can have a positive effect on body shape and health”, says Kailey Proctor, a dietitian at St. Joseph Hospital in California.
④ Improved blood sugar control. Because being overweight is a major risk for developing diabetes (糖尿病), losing weight can lower that risk. There was one study from some experts published in the magazine Nutrients in 2018. The experts chose some overweight people with no history of diabetes to switch to a vegan diet. Then they followed them for 16 weeks. Improvements and better effects are seen in those people in controlling blood sugar levels.
⑤ Reduced cancer risk. There's also the chance to reduce your risk of developing cancer. “Vegan diets, when planned correctly, are also very high in fruits, vegetables and whole grains. These plant - based foods have been shown to reduce the risk of cancer.” says Proctor. We should always focus on consuming whole, fresh foods as much as possible. It's important to make sure you're getting enough nutrients for your health.

Physical exercise is good for our mind, body and spirit. Today, working out through online videos is becoming very popular. Since the Internet is widely used, it's very easy for us to do so. That means we can work out anytime anywhere.
One of my friends, Lin Fei, followed short workout videos to do daily exercise. “With live programs, I feel like working out with my friends, which encourages me to hold on to the last minute.” she said. Another friend of mine, Michael, told me that workout videos let him feel so comfortable. “I have a fear of working out at the gym (健身房) because I don't like being watched by others. Working out at home makes working out much more enjoyable.” he said.
With their examples, I decided to give it a try. When I told my plan to my elder sister, a P.E. teacher, she reminded me that workout videos could be helpful but might still carry some problems.
“Without being with someone in person, you will be less willing (愿意的) to work out to your best. Working out at the gym allows you to have advice in real time and get pushed harder.” my sister said. “Well, if you really want to have a try, first, choose proper programs or videos. That's very important. And then ask your friends for advice. Their experiences can give you a good sight into what you can expect. Anyway, don't be addicted (沉迷的) to it. You should try different ways to work out to be healthy.”
At her suggestions, I finally followed an online workout program with personalized help that is held for three months. After the first period of training, I felt it very practical and helpful when I put in the right amount (量) of work along with a strong pared with going to the gym, using online videos to work out is a much cheaper and time - saving choice. But it can be difficult sometimes when I'm too lazy or too busy to stick to it.
