He heard about the establishment of the People's Republic of China and succeeded in coming back to China in 1955 though the American government tried to stop him. Since 1956 he had been devoted to aerospace science and technology and made great contributions to China's aerospace. In 2009, he passed away in Beijing.

There are many outstanding scientists in the world. Among those, I admire Yuan Longping most.
Dr. Yuan devoted himself to doing research on the rice output. Since his young age, Yuan had devoted himself to boosting rice yields, which became his life goal. Through many years' research, his efforts paid off. His super hybrid rice has a high output and helps feed people at home and abroad.
