Students from Taizhou Middle School, Jiangsu Province, experience farming during their labor (劳动) course. As we all know, the life skills like cooking and painting are important and should be taught as part of labor education.
On June 3, 2020, the Ministry of Education (MOE) (教育部) gave a document (文件) showing the revised curriculum (修改后的方案) for senior high schools across the country. Labor education includes housework, school labor and community voluntary (志愿的) services and so on.
“Labor education must be carried out (实施) with the purpose to make the right view (观点) of the world, life and values and develop an interest in doing chores,” said Vice-Minister of Education Zheng Fuzhi.
According to China Youth Daily, the labor course will take six credits (学分) — the same as foreign language and physics. Voluntary service, as part of labor education, would take two credits. The MOE also asks schools to make sure 40 hours of voluntary service during the full three school years.
According to Xinhua, adding labor education was out of care that the country’s young people do too little housework and that they think labor jobs aren’t important. Because of a lot of school pressure, schools pay more attention to the course of education, and parents may think that the chores waste their kids’ time.
According to a survey, middle school students in China only spend 12 minutes a day on chores, compared with 72 minutes in the US, 42 minutes in South Korea and 30 minutes in France. However, doing housework does not distract (使分心) young people. Rob Frenette had problems with bullies at school for eleven years. He was often lonely and scared. When he was fifteen, however, he decided to do something about his problems. He walked into a newspaper office and told them about the bullying. His story went into the newspaper and soon all the TV stations in Canada wanted to talk to him about his experiences. They also wanted to hear his ideas to stop bullying.
After that, Rob continued his studies at school, but in his free time he helped other people with bullying problems. With a friend Katie Neu, he made a website called www.bullyingcanada.ca. Visitors to the website can find advice, stories and poems about bullying, in both English and French. When people are upset, they can talk on the phone or online to Rob and his team. Every weekend Rob has to answer e-mails to the website. He also speaks to children, teachers and members of government around the country about bullying.
Rob’s most important message is: “When bullies are unkind to you, it isn’t your fault. There’s nothing wrong with you, so you should try to keep trusting yourself. And remember that people care about your problems. You just have to find those people.”
One of Rob’s ideas is “Blue Day”, a special day for stopping bullying in schools. Students have to wear blue clothes and in class they learn how to stop bullying. More than 150 Canadian schools now celebrate Blue Day, but Rob won’t stop until there’s a Blue Day in every school in Canada.

阅读短文,根据短文内容,回答下列问题。
Life has changed quickly since COVID-19(2019冠状病毒病)broke out worldwide. Many people find themselves isolated(隔绝的)at home, bored and lonely. But if we look at history, there are many great people who produced their best work when they were alone.
Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, and James Clerk Maxwell, three of the greatest physicists in history, worked by themselves most of the time. They learned from others not by working with them directly, but by reading their papers and books.
American philosopher(哲学家)Henry Thoreau is another example. In 1845, he built a cabin (木屋)in the woods and lived there in solitude(孤独)for two years. Isolation led to his book Walden, which is about nature, simplicity(质朴)and beauty. As he wrote: "I never found the companion(陪伴)that was so companionable as solitude.[It allows you to] be a Columbus to whole new continents(大陆)and worlds within you, opening new channels, not of trade, but of thought.”
One advantage of staying alone, as we may all find, is the lack(缺少)of distractions(干扰). In daily life, when we need to focus, even small talk can throw us off course. Therefore, choosing to isolate yourself from time to time can improve your productivity greatly. What's more, our sensitivity(敏感)to criticism(批评)from others can stop our progress. We are better at expressing ourselves and thinking freely on our own.
According to Barbara Ess, an American photographer, isolation also forces us to pay attention to the details of life and surroundings(周围环境)that we wouldn't normally see. This special experience helps us think more deeply about ourselves and our environment, which leads to even greater creativity.
49.In what situation did those great physicists produce their best works

五、任务型阅读
