This is an unusual truth that anyone older than 25 will already know: as life goes on, time seems to speed up. Think back to childhood when holidays seemed to last forever and you attended a school for what felt like decades. Now consider last year, by contrast, and it probably raced by. As those in their 30s and 40s will know, the effect gets worse with age—and, for people in their 70s, a year can flash by what seems like days. “Where did the time go ” we wonder.
The best reason is that we can keep the important facts in mind longer when our brains have to process more information. Childhood and young adulthood are full of novelty (新奇)—the first time you rode a bike, had a romance, get a job—but, as we get older, things get more routine (常规). You can test this out by remembering a recent experience of novelty in your life, such as travel. A few years back, I went skiing for the first time, and that four-day trip still feels “long”. But I might have difficulty noticing a four-day period in my ordinary life.
One way that can work things out, then, is easy to see: try lots of new things. Travel more, if you can, and to strange places. Try new hobbies and meet new people—you’ll be using your brain with a lot of efforts, and the result will be a life that feels longer, more meaningful. But small changes work, too: even making a change in the route (路线) you take to the office, reading different kinds of novels or choosing a different place to buy your sandwich at lunchtime will have an influence on your feelings.
But novelty can only go so far. Besides, a fulfilling (令人满意的) life requires routine: you can’t build deep relationships, or rise through the ranks at work if you always make new friends or get new jobs or even have new husbands or wives. That’s why the Buddhist teacher Shizen Young suggests another method: learn to meditate (冥想). Even a few minutes a day will get you to have better concentration (专注), and the better you get at concentrating, and the more information your brain will take in during any experience, no matter how boring.
You need to believe in yourself. You’ll be making your whole life a little more novel (新颖的). You’ll be more present and time will pass less quickly; in fact, you’ll make your life longer—without magic pills or creative medical technology.
How to stop time 1 up
The problem It is not a common truth to anyone who is 2 25 years old that time seems to go faster as life goes on. The 3 you get, the faster time races by.
The 4 of the problem When things become usual in our life, it might be 5 for you to pay attention to them and so on time passes by. So, experiencing something fresh and special can make you 6 things longer.
Advice on how to solve the problem ●It takes you a lot of efforts to use your brain when trying new things, making you feel that your life is longer and 7 more to you. ●Changing something a little can also make a 8 to your feelings. ●Learning to meditate helps people 9 their concentration and take in more information from boring experiences.
Conclusion Trust yourself. 10 there might be no new medical technology, you can still live a bit more novel life and experiencing slow flow of time actually makes your life longer.

In 221 BC, Emperor Qinshihuang took over the other six states and set up the first unified kingdom in Chinese history. In order to strengthen his newly born authority and protect the north from the Huns (匈奴人), he ordered to build walls. Therefore, many people believed that it was Emperor Qinshihuang who first built the Great Wall. But researches claimed that before Qin’s Great Wall, the six states had already built their own walls to protect themselves. Emperor Qinshihuang ordered the previous wall sections of different states to be linked together and extended. The Great Wall of Qin seemed like a dragon, which runs from Lintao in the west to Liaodong in the east.
Thus, it was named “Wanli Changcheng”. In the Western Han Dynasty, the Huns became more powerful. The Han court started to build more walls on a larger scale in order to guard the frontier. In the west, the wall along the HexiCorridor (河西走廊), Yumenguan Pass, and Yangguan Pass was built. In the north, YanmenguanPass and Niangziguan Pass in Shanxi were set up. Many more sections of the wall extended to Yinshan Mountain and half of the ancient Silk Road was along the Han’s wall.
The Northern Wei, Northern Qi and Norhern Zhou Dynasties all built their own sections but on a smaller scale than the walls in the Han Dynasties. The powerful Tang Dynasty saw peace between the northern tribes and central China for a long time, so few Great Wall sections were built in the period.
The Ming Dynasty is the peak of wall building in Chinese history. The Ming suffered a lot by troubles from minority tribes. The Ming court, from its first emperor to the last, endlessly built walls in the north. Besides adding many more miles of its own, the Ming emperors ordered enlargement of the walls of previous dynasties into double-line or multi-line walls. For example, out of Yanmenguan Pass were added three big stone walls and 23 small stone walls. The countless walls and watchtowers made the country much safer than before. In the early Qing Dynasty, some sections of the walls were repaired and several sections were extended. This great engineering work stopped in the middle of the Qing Dynasty.
Owing to its long history, natural disasters and human activities, many parts of the Great Wall are badly damaged and disappearing. Being a world-famous engineering project and seeing the rise and fall of Chinese history, the Great Wall needs us to take action to protect it at once!
The 11 of the Great Wall
The six states The 12 of building their walls is to protect themselves.

His ability to see himself as a writer shows a concept (理念) known as “possible selves”. It describes how people’s future life will be: what they may become, or want to become, or even fear to become.
A possible self can bring you far more than daydreams. Your dream can come true if you build a bridge from your “now” self to your possible self. But how do we build that bridge Here are a few steps you can try.

People are not sure if their works should be thought as art at all. Artists spent a lot of time putting their inner worlds onto these works.
AI painters can create more than 1,000 new works of art with every tap of the enter key on a keyboard. But a mass-produced (批量生产) print of the Mona Lisa isn’t worth as much as the real Leonardo da Vinci’s painting. Should anyone pay for these mass-produced things And if an artist puts AI masterpieces into the market, what should the price be
AI art is a program learning from the work of artists to create a new piece according to the needs of a human. But who paints the artwork, the machine or its user And can the original (原始的) artists ask for money for copyright (版权)
Such questions make the problem more difficult to solve, and that also leads to arguments against using AI-generated art at the art market.
Once we’ve answered those questions, we can face the really big problem: When an AI-generated painting wins an award, who should the prize be given to

How important is music When they are asked this question, students and parents usually answer that music is nice, but not very important. It is only a way of entertainment (娱乐), not the top choice for education. This opinion is shortsighted. In fact, music education is necessary and important for all students.
Music tells us who we are. Music not only reflects (反映) the social environment it came from but also expresses people’s thinking and values. For example, just as Mozart music represents a lifestyle, rock music represents a lifestyle too. The jazz influence that George Gershwin and other musicians introduced into their music is clearly.
American because it came from American musical traditions.
Music provides a kind of ability to know the world in a different way. Science explains how the sun rises and sets. Music explores (探究) the meanings of feelings. We need every possible way to discover and react (反应) to our world because no one way can get it all.
Music is a form of thought, as powerful as science. It is a way we humans communicate with each other. Through the language, we express our feelings, our discoveries, our ideas, our imagination and our hopes so that they can be shared with others. There are many colours in nature. But do you know if a colour has weight I think you’ll say “no”. But I am afraid you are wrong. If you don’t believe, you may do a small experiment. First, put two objects (物体) with the same weight into two boxes. Then cover the box. Next, wrap one box with a red piece of paper, the other with a white piece of paper. OK. Now hold the boxes with your hand one by one. It is certain that you will think the red one is a little heavier.
Why do you think so A scientist found that different colours have different weight in a man’s mind. So he did many tests and at last he got the result. That is to say, every colour has its own weight in our mind and their order is the same. The heaviest colour is red, then blue, green, orange, yellow and white.
The scientist told us that colours also have smell. Can you smell the colour Of course not. Then why did the scientist say so That is because every colour stands for a kind of light with a certain wavelength (波长). It reaches our brain through sense organs (感觉器官).
According to this discovery, scientists say that people accept the colours they like and refuse the colours they hate. So your body and mind will be healthy by using the colours you like. Or you’ll be nervous or even get ill. For example, if you stay in a room with red windows, wallpapers and furniture for two hours, you’ll feel you have been there for four hours. But if the room is blue, you’ll feel you have been there for only an hour. Another example, if a person walks out of a red room and into a blue room, his temperature will fall. That means our body temperature will change with different colours.

Not all teenagers do well at school, but why is that Those students think the schooling has nothing to do with their lives, such as the kind of work they will do in the future.
How can teenage students become more engaged (参与) with their studies Geoff Mulgan, social commentator and TED speaker, believes the solution (解决方法) is to make learning more relevant. He studied the way of people’s learning in schools around the world, from Australia to Paraguay. His research suggested that a new model of schooling was needed—a model that connects what students are learning to their own plans for their future. “What kind of school would have teenagers fighting to get in, not fighting to stay out ” wondered Mulgan. His answer is the one in which students can learn things by doing.
Mulgan helped create the Studio School, a system of publicly funded (资助) schools for 14- to 19-year olds in the U.K. Unlike traditional education, Studio Schools connect knowledge learning with practical training for future jobs. About 80 percent of the courses are done not through sitting in classrooms but through real-life, practical projects which include working at local businesses. Mulgan says that many teenagers “learn best in teams, and they learn best by doing things for real.”
This different method is also improved by more personalized (个性化) instruction and support. Studio Schools are smaller than traditional schools—usually around 300 learners—to make sure that every student feels valued. Each student has a “personal coach” who helps him or her develop a plan to meet their learning goals. By having more clear goals, students become more confident of doing well at school. Reports have shown hopeful results. Many traditional-school students who were not getting good grades improved greatly after they moved to a Studio School.
Mulgan says Studio Schools are based on a simple idea that turns education on its head. They think teamwork and practical projects are very important while learning. This simple idea is spreading. From just one school in 2010, Studio Schools had grown to more than 40 by 2014.
Engaging learners
111 Some students don’t do well at school and they aren’t engaged with their studies 112 they think their schooling isn’t connected with their future lives.
Solution By researching 113 people around the world learn, Mulgan believes students need a new model of schooling. It should connect learning to their own 114 plans. Studio Schools, 115 from the traditional ones, make it possible to connect knowledge learning with practical training. Instead of sitting in classroom, students in Studio Schools finish most courses through practical projects, 116 working at local businesses. With 117 learners, Studio Schools provide personal plans for students to meet their learning needs. Having clearer goals in mind, the confident students make great 118 in their schoolwork.
Results According to a simple idea that teamwork and practical projects really matter, Studio Schools had grown from only one in 2010 to 119 40 by 2014. From the picture, we can see that students in Studio Schools always wear a 120 face while studying there.

Qin Dynasty 13 many people believed that it was Emperor Qinshihuang who first built the Great Qall, researches claimed that before Qin’s Great Wall, the six states had already built their own walls.
Western Han Dynasty Many more sections of the wall extended to Yinshan Mountain and 14 percent of the ancient Silk Road was along the Han’s wall.
Between Han Dynasties and Tang Dynasty All the dynasties built the walls, 15 the Northern Wei, Northern Qi and Northern Zhou Dynasties.
Tang Dynasty The Tang Dynasty 16 was so powerful that there was no need to build the walls.
Ming Dynasty The Ming court, from its first emperor to the last, never 17 building walls because the Ming suffered a lot by troubles from minority tribes. To make the country much safer than before, the Ming court built a great 18 of walls and watchtowers.
Qing Dynasty The Qing court repaired and extended some sections of the walls 19 the middle of the Qing Dynasty.
At present It’s 20 for us to take action to protect the Great Wall because many parts of the Great Wall are badly damaged and disappearing.

Big data is many sets (集合) of information that are put together to be used by a computer program. The computer program looks for different kinds of answers in the data. We can find different kinds of information from many sources in big data, such as information from the Internet, schools, companies, and governments. One set of data can have people’s names and addresses. Another set can have what they like, where they go to school, and how much time they spend on the computer.
Big data can be helpful in many ways. The government uses it to understand how many people travel on buses or trains. The information is then used to improve bus or train services. Some schools use big data to understand which children may need extra help in class. Years ago, I interviewed a successful advertising man. He told me that he dreamed of being a writer in fact. I never believed he could succeed. However, about ten years later, holding up his new book. He has published more than 100 best sellers.
First of all, just take action. If your dream is to succeed in getting a certain job, attend a course and start by taking up that type of work as a hobby or a side job. You should tell yourself that these are the steps you can take to achieve that goal.
Secondly, when you have a goal, share it. A study found that the adults who sent weekly progress to a friend completed their goals more easily than those who didn’t share their goals. If more friends know about your goal, it is more possible for you to achieve it. That finding was true for all goals.
Finally, get advice from the people who you haven’t spoken to in years. A lot of research has found that when you’re asking for valuable advice, people in your wider network are more likely (可能) to offer it than those closest to you. So, reach out to your weak connections for it when needed.

When we do not let our children receive good music education, we take away from them the meanings that music expresses. Science does not tell us what it means to be humans. Music does.
So music education is much more important than, people generalize.

So, don’t worry about it. Instead, remember that some criticism actually helps you make some improvements.
You absolutely cannot stop what people say. What you can do, however, is to change the way you react to criticism. If you let it upset (扰乱) you, then the blame (过错) is on you. You have the right to decide what to do with the criticism you receive.
