(1)所需阅读的短文词数在350以内;
(1)与所给短文及段落开头语的衔接程度;
(2)内容的丰富性;
(3)语法结构和词汇的丰富性和准确性;
①“Perhaps you would like to go this way " suggested the man shyly.
②“Shall we leave now " he whispered to us and we left the room quietly.
③"Help! Help! I can't swim,” screamed the frightened boy.
④“Please don't hurt my cat,” begged Sarah as her brother picked it up by one leg.
⑤“I'd like to live in a castle of my own too,” agreed the young prince.
⑥“Yes. I bought a car and a new flat this winter,” my father replied.
⑦“Are you coming with us ” shouted Li Ming to his friends on the other side of the room.
⑧“I didn't like that meal at all,” complained the customer.
(2)适当使用介词 with/without
①The potential house buyer came with confidence.
②The man answered without hesitation.
③With the lights on, the elderly woman left the room.
④ With a book in his arm, he left the room,
⑤ With so much work to do, she will have a hard time.
⑥With so much work done, she felt relaxed,
①We thanked the elderly couple and felt a sense of warmth, deeply moved.
②The owner smiled, saying,“ Tell me why you need this house,”
①He gave her the child to hold. Lovingly, she kissed the baby on its forehead with her cold white lips, then stared wildly around the room, fell back-and died.
②His mother was sleeping when he woke up. Joyfully, he slid out of the room.
①We had no idea where we were and it got dark. Exhausted and hungry, I wondered if we could find our way back.
②Was it a savage Crusoe stared at the footprint, full of fear.
①It is not money but love that matters.
②It was in a small village in the south that he spent his childhood and met his lifelong friend-the local schoolmaster.
①I want to give it to those who can fill it with love instead of money.
②I'd forgotten the keys, which made matters worse.

Mo was waiting in the corridor outside her class. She was feeling sick. She had two exams that day and physics was first. She really hated physics. It was her worst subject. Terry looked back at her from the front of the line, and then looked away quickly. Mo thought she looked guilty. She didn’t have a problem with physics; she didn’t have a problem with anything... Miss Perfect!
“Hi, Mo, it’s your favourite exam today,” said Nina, laughing as she joined the line. Terry was looking at Mo again. “So what’s wrong with her ” asked Nina. “I thought you were friends.” “Yes, so did I,” said Mo. “But she hasn’t spoken to me for two weeks now. She promised to help me review for the physics exam too, but then she’s ignored all my calls and texts. And when I rang her house, her mum just told me she was busy.” said Mo angrily. At that time, Mr Reed asked all the students into the exam room.
Mo couldn’t answer question number five. She looked up and saw Terry sitting two rows in front of her. Mo couldn’t believe it! Terry was holding her phone on her knees under the table and reading from it. Is that how Terry always got such good grades She felt really angry at Terry, but she didn’t know what to do. She thought about telling the teacher, but what would everyone else think of her “Stop writing and put your pens down.” said Mr Reed as he started to collect the exam papers.
Mo wanted to talk to Terry at lunch time, but she couldn’t find her anywhere. The next exam was history. That was Mo’s favourite subject but she wasn’t feeling good. Mo went to the library to study, but she couldn’t concentrate. “It wasn’t fair!” she thought. “Terry was getting good grades by cheating all that time,” thought Mo. Just then, Mr Reed walked past her table. “Mr Reed.”
Mo was sitting behind Terry again in the history exam that afternoon. Mo was feeling terrible. Why had she told Mr Reed But it was too late now. And anyway, Terry didn’t want to be her friend! Mr Reed wanted her to look at her and nod if she saw that Terry was cheating in the exam.

Terry was crying as she walked to the door. Everyone was staring at her and Mo felt really guilty now.
Mo was walking towards the school gate, when she saw Terry. “Mo, I want to talk to you.” Mo could see that Terry had been crying, her face was pale and her eyes were red. Mo couldn’t say a word. “Listen,” said Terry. “I’m really sorry I haven’t answered any of your calls, but we’re having a terrible time at home. My dad had a heart attack two weeks ago and he’s in hospital. He had a big heart operation today and I was very worried about him. I was reading texts from my mum to see how the operation was going. My parents came to the US from India in the 1960s, along with other immigrants from India. Back then, there were few Indians anywhere around the US. My father came to Kansas, where he would get his Ph.D.Six months later, my mother came with the three of us kids — my sister, my brother, and me. We were just six, five and three years old then.
It was the very first winter when we were in Kansas. It was so cold, but we didn’t have heavy coats or warm clothes. We didn’t have a concept of how cold it really could be in the Midwest, and there was a new surprise every day. We didn’t have a car or anything like that, and my dad didn’t have a US driver’s license. But anyway, my father was studying for his Ph.D., and he would walk up and down a big hill to and from the campus on a regular basis.
Since I was three years old, I didn’t go to school, but my sister and brother were in school. My father had to walk down the big hill to take them to school every day and then walk back up the hill to go to university. After about three weeks of living like this, a woman called Valerie, whose son John was in the same class as my brother, started noticing them. On a very cold snowy morning, when they went to school as usual,Valerie passed by. She pulled up and said, “I see you on the way every day. Don’t you feel cold without coats ”My father responded,“We didn’t expect the weather would be so cold in Kansas.”Valerie said,“Maybe I can take your daughter and son to school. Would you like a ride ”
Paragraph 1:
Hearing that, my dad nodded with great joy.

Hearing that, my dad nodded with great joy. He said, “That would be great. That’s very kind of you.” Then my sister and brother got into Valerie’s car on the freezing cold day. After expressing their thanks to Valerie, they greeted John with a smile. After a while, a faint flush rose to my brother’s cheeks because of the warm wind in the car, and my sister had a broad smile on her face. Seeing that, Valerie decided to continue the act from then on.
Paragraph 2:
Later, Valerie and her family became so dear to my family. It just started with this small act of offering a ride, and afterwards the relationship between the two families gradually deepened. We kids have been close friends with John. Valerie and my mother also became very close. Valerie and her family tried to help us in other aspects, such as offering us warm clothes we were in urgent need of at that time. And my mother loved to cook Indian food for Valerie’s family. We all believed that our friendship would last forever.

A friend of mine whose name was Martin Brown had a bad memory, which made him really famous. He was so forgetful that he sometimes forgot what he was talking about in the middle of a sentence. His wife had to always remind him about his appointments, his classes or even his meals! Since Martin was a professor at a well-known university, his forgetfulness often caused him a lot of trouble. It wasn't that he was unintelligent, as some critical people tended to say, he was just very, very absent-minded.
One hot summer day, Professor Brown decided to take his children to the beach. The seaside town he planned to visit was about a three-hour train ride away. To make the trip more interesting for his young children, he decided to keep the name of the town secret. Unfortunately, by the time Martin had arrived at the train station, the poor forgetful man had forgotten the name of the town. Luckily, a friend of his happened to be in the station. He offered to take care of the children while Martin went back home to find out where he was going.
The professor's wife was surprised to see him back again so soon, but she laughed when she heard what was the matter. She distrusted his memory, so she wrote the name of the town on a piece of paper. Satisfied that she had solved the problem, she sent her husband off again. Ten minutes later, she was astonished to see him outside the house again.

What was the matter now " asked his wife. "I just can't remember…" Martin Brown swallowed his words, seeing his wife's glaring eyes. Sensing something was wrong, the anxious Mrs Brown immediately softened," Calm down and think hard. Do you forget where you put the name of the town " Staring into his eyes, Mrs Brown tried hard to control her temper. Scratching his head, Brown told the truth that it wasn't the name of the town but the children. Mrs Brown soon came to realize that he forgot where he had left the children!
Hearing the cry, out rushed the neighbours, trying to find out what had happened. The couple quarrelled so loudly that it would almost turn into a fight. Mrs Brown burst out laughing when the professor's telephone rang. His friend, whose patience had worn out, called to complain. Thank goodness! The professor apologized and dashed into his car. Fearing that he may make matters worse, Mrs Brown insisted on following this time. What relief and delight to see their children running towards them at the train station!

Mo couldn’t answer question number five. She looked up and saw Terry sitting two rows in front of her. Mo couldn’t believe it!

Hearing that, my dad nodded with great joy.
