Passage du Gois(格伊斯通道): magic tricks by the water
If you are planning a trip to France in the future, you should be careful with the roads you take because some of them may just disappear.
The Passage du Gois in France, which is a natural passage first discovered in 1701, connects the mainland France and a small island called Noirmoutier(努瓦尔穆捷岛). It is about 4.2 kilometres in length. What has made the passage famous is that it periodically floods. Twice a day, it disappears under about four metres of water. The passage is accessible only during low tide which lasts about one hour. People can also drive on the passage half an hour before and after low tide.
Driving on the passage can be dangerous. Some drivers are caught in the tide because they drive at the wrong time. Besides, as the passage is covered with water for most of the day, it is slippery all the time.
To ensure the safety of drivers and tourists, signs are posted on both ends of the passage to tell people whether the passage is passable(可通行的)or not. There are also poles set at intervals along the passage for people to climb up when they are trapped in the water. People are warned to drive slowly and make no stops on the passage. My Childhood Memory
Like many children, I had a happy childhood under the care and love of my parents. There are many beautiful memories that I can’t forget forever.
My mother is an English teacher. She had to get up early to have morning classes when I was young. So I had to get up with her and get to the kindergarten very early. I was always the first to get to the kindergarten then. Because of this, I was often praised by my teachers. My teachers also told me to help them get ready for kids’ breakfast. From then on, I began to learn to do things by myself.
Sometimes I think my mother is a hard-working teacher rather than a good mother, because she loves her work and students more than me. Even so, I should also thank my mother. It was her who taught me to be independent.
名师点评: 本文使用“三段法”介绍自己的经历. 第一段开篇点题, 表明自己有许多难忘的经历; 第二段阐述自己的经历; 第三段表达自己的看法及感激之情.
添彩点: 本文使用了存现句和when 引导的时间状语从句等进行阐述, 条理清晰; 恰当地使用了get up, because of, from then on, more than 等短语.
