Read the passage and answer the questions. (阅读短文,回答问题)
Every year on my birthday, from the time 1 turned 12, a white gardenia (栀子花) was delivered to my house. No card ever came with it. Calls to the flower-shop were not helpful at all. After a while I stopped trying to find out the senders name and was just pleased with the beautiful white flower, in soft pink paper.
I never stopped imagining who the giver might be, though. Some of my happiest moments were spent daydreaming about the sender. My mother encouraged these daydreams. She’d ask me if I had been especially kind to someone. Perhaps it was one of my classmates. Perhaps it was the old man. He lived across the street. I’d delivered his mail during the winter. As a girl, though, I had more fun imagining that it might be a boy that I had met.
One month before my high school graduation, my father died. I was so sad that I became completely uninterested in my upcoming graduation dance, and I didn’t care whether I had a new dress or not. My mother, in her own sadness, however, would not let me miss any of those things. She wanted her children to feel loved. In fact, my mother wanted her children to see themselves much like the gardenia: lovely, strong and perfect, with perhaps a bit of mystery (神秘).
I got married at the age of 22. My mother died ten years after I was married. That was the year the gardenia stopped coming.

Long time ago, there was a boy called Narcissus. He was very handsome and many women loved him. One of them was a fairy called Echo (回声). Unluckily, Echo could only repeat after others, so she couldn’t tell Narcissus her love for him.
One day, Narcissus got lost in the woods. He shouted, “Who’s there ” Echo repeated, “Who’s there ” Slowly, Echo stepped forward. But Narcissus didn’t love Echo, and left her heartbroken.
Later, a goddess learnt this. She decided to punish (惩罚) Narcissus. She made the boy fall in love with himself. Once Narcissus took a drink from a pond. He saw his own reflection (倒影) and fell in love with himself. From then on, he stayed there and looked into the water until he died. A flower grew where he died. That flower is called narcissus (水仙花).
This story tells us why the narcissus flower is seen as too much self-love. It also shows that too much self-love is unhealthy. What about healthy self-love To have healthy self-love, we need to use the mirror. That is to say, we need to love ourselves. Also, we need to find the goodness in others and love them. In this way, we will hear praise from each other. When we have learnt to appreciate the value that we add to each other’s lives, we can love ourselves healthily.

I wrote my first poem(诗)when I was 5 years old. It was for Mother’s Day. At that time, I was more worried about making rhymes(韵律)than making sense. My poem went like this: “Mother’s Day is something special. And then you will find a wishing well(许愿池)!”
The poem was not my best work, but my mom kept it—just like she kept every other piece of writing and artwork I ever made. She also kept my baby clothes, a piece of hair from my first haircut and embarrassing(窘态的)pictures of my sister and me as little kids. Sometimes we feel like our mom runs a museum of our lives, and she’s the only visitor.
But it feels nice to be loved like that. Who else would care enough to keep all of my terrible drawings and silly poems Only my mother.
On Mother’s Day when I was little, I used to bring my mom breakfast in bed, make her a card, give her kisses and hugs and tell her I loved her.
I don’t get to see my mother very much these days. Now I live with my husband in Shanghai, China, 11, 200km from my parents’ home in the US. I’m too far away to bring my mom breakfast in bed or give her a hug. But when Mother’s Day comes, I’ll call my mom from China. Over the phone, I’ll tell her I love her, and that she’s the best mom in the World. No matter how far away I go, she’s always in my heart.

Mr. Guo is a teacher from Xi’an. He asked his students to hand in their homework through a QR code (二维码). “We spent an hour or two in class learning how to generate (使产生) the codes, and in the end everything gets easier.” Said Guo, “When students finish the homework, they keep it on WeChat. Then, each student makes his own QR code and gives it to me. So I can check their work anywhere using my computer or telephone.”
The QR codes can be sent to Mr. Guo by email, QQ and WeChat. When Guo scans (扫描) his students' QR codes, their homework appears on his phone. He finds that their homework becomes more creative, with many pictures, music and even videos.
Guo's students like the new way and think it is interesting. “We are living in the information age. Many students like to work with computers, which makes learning more fun.” Said Tingting, a student of Guo's.
“The paper is not easy to keep, but the code is easy to keep and share.” Guo said, “It is worth trying to use new technology in education. Education itself is a kind of creation. I don't want my students to fall behind the times.”
However, some parents are worried. They are afraid that their children will spend too much time on computers and less time communicating with teachers. But in fact, it's unnecessary. Students still need to look up information in books and write it down when they do their homework. They only use the codes when they hand in their work, which doesn't take them too much time. I counted his money and replied, "You know that you don't have enough money to buy the doll, my dear." I asked him whom he wished to give this doll to. "My sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too. All was because of a traffic accident." My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said, "I told Daddy to tell Mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the store."
I quickly reached for my money and said to the boy, "I suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough money/or the doll." He said, "OK, I hope I do have enough money."
