Mickey’s Not So Scary Party is a fun-filled night of Halloween festivities that runs on select dates from August 16, 2020 to January 30, 2021.
It’s the most magical place to trick or treat, and there are much more fun and entertainment around every corner. If you have little monsters to bring along for the fun, take these tips. They will help you use your time at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party wisely.
First, the party passes costs are not built into your normal pass, so you will have to purchase an extra ticket for each guest. The ticket price changes depending on the date you choose. Those closer to Halloween are pricier, so you may want to plan a night early in the season if going Halloween Night is not crucial to you. Prices for Mickey’s Not So Scary Party start at $79 and they increase based on the night that you will be attending. For example, Halloween night, October 31, will be the most expensive night. As of 2020, October 31st ticket prices are $ 135 per person. Kids tickets are $ 5 less than any adult ticket on the same night.
We suggest arriving for Mickey’s Not So Scary Party as early as possible. Although Mickey’s Not So Scary Party starts officially at 7:00 pm, Disney Halloween party guests are allowed to enter the park starting at 4 pm.
Little ones are always encouraged to wear costumes as long as they don’t surround the entire body and adhere to Disney’s official costume policy. Several weeks ago, I pulled an old road map out of the glove box and passed it to my children. They had never seen the province of Ontario laid out like that before. They stared at the map, asking about all the towns, parks, and other landmarks we’d visited, and I pointed them out on the map.
Digital maps and GPS are modern wonders that have gotten me out of many confusing places, but paper maps still have a role to play in our lives. Most of us adults learned to read them out of necessity, but it’s up to us to pass on that skill to children whose need may not be so obvious, but who still will benefit from it.
As Trevor Muir wrote in an article on this topic, “When kids learn how to create and use paper maps, they are doing more than just learning how to get around. They are actually developing a fundamental skill that they will use for the rest of their lives. Map skill still belong in today’s classroom.”
As a child, I had National Geographic Maps taped to my bedroom walls. This aroused my curiosity and imagination about those places and thus made me eager to remember my geography and history lessons because they were tied to places I’d “seen”. Even now as a mother of four, I’ve also spared time to travel to many of the countries whose maps I studied as a child.
Additionally, in this fast-changing world, unexpected events can rapidly influence one’s usual way of life. When GPS satellites or Internet connections are affected, this old-fashioned skill can get you out of a mess without requiring a smartphone. Last but not least, paper maps arouse big picture thinking, showing kids that there’s a much bigger world out there and helping to direct them within it.
So, now is a good time to pull out those dusty old maps and lay them on the kitchen table.
4. How did the children react when they were given the paper map
A. They showed great curiosity.
B. They seemed totally confused.
C. They found it less convenient than GPS.

5. What is Trevor Muir’s attitude towards teaching paper map skill for kids
A. Neutral. B. Negative. C. Supportive. D. Doubtful.

Whether we are young or old, we all have a dream we would love to come true. The issue is that most of us have no idea where to begin to turn a great idea into fact, or that we choose to abandon our dreams when the going gets tough. If this is you, then self-help guide Dream and Achieve: Discover and Express Your
Passion in Your Lifetime by Kola Olutimehin should be at the top of your reading list. Kola, who fittingly describes himself as a “Dream Driver”, has helped thousands of people achieve through his coaching and public speaking, and he has distilled (浓缩) all his wisdom and tried-and-tested methods into this book.
At the beginning of the book, Kola defines what we mean by a “dream”, stating that a dream is a long-cherished vision of what you want to make your inheritance(遗产)and your contribution to the world. That doesn’t mean that this dream, whatever it may be, is already fully formed in your mind. It may be fuzzy (模糊的); it may just be a feeling that you were born to attain something you don’t currently possess.
What I love in this section of the book is how Kola, who has built his own business empire (帝国) with blood, sweat and tears, debunks (驳斥) the common myths people associate with becoming a success, such as the need to make decisions with fully detailed plans.
He therefore urges readers, when faced with a decision, to consider the four “Ds”. These are Desire—questioning what you truly want and why you want it; acting on your Decision, which is an active step; Determination, chiefly having the staying power not to backtrack; and Discipline, which means you must continue to act upon your decision to help make your dreams a reality.
In conclusion, author Kola Olutimehin has captured the essence (本质) of success and set it down in print, and Dream and Achieve is the one book you need to find your life’s purpose, and achieve it.

A Turning-point Party
The cold snow was falling as Kelly struggled home from school in December. How much she hated the snow---and everything else about Pinetree, Wyoming, America. How much she missed Thailand! “I hate it here! I want to go home!” Kelly thought.
She reached for a small white envelope in her pocket. In it was an invitation to Jennifer’s party: Kelly didn’t want to go. She felt awkward at the thought of being at a party with a bunch of kids she barely knew. She closed her eyes and remembered this time of year people would hold a festival to thank the Mother of Water in Thailand, They used banana leaves to make a little boat with a candle lit in it, made a wish for the coming year and set the boat floating on the river.
Kelly sighed and pushed open the door to her parents’ restaurant. They were busy working. “Maybe I should go just this once for Mama and Papa. They are so worried that I’m not making any friends.” Kelly went over and tied an apron around her waist. As she was washing dishes, she told her mother that she had been invited to a party on Friday night. Mama smiled saying now she might be happy in their new home. Kelly nodded, thinking Pinetree could never be her home.
On Friday evening, Papa drove Kelly to the party. Jennifer met her at the door and led her into the dining room. Six kids from her classes were seated around the table, on which were sitting small brown cookie houses. They were selecting colorful candies and gluing them to their own houses, Wow, she loved making things. For this part of the party, she could be herself. She decided to decorate her cottage like one of the golden temples of Thailand. As she was making it, Jennifer wondered how she did it. The others joined staring at Kelly with admiration, Kelly felt a warm glow. Maybe I could fit in here-----a little, she thought.

【答案】范文一
After dinner, the party went on and the talk turned to the coming holidays. Everyone talked about Christmas merrily. However, Kelly was in total silence, a sense of loss creeping up on. Jennifer seemed to realize something. “Kelly, what do Thai people celebrate at this time ” The other kids all stared at her with overwhelming curiosity. “Well, we celebrate a grand festival to thank the Mother of Water.” Kelly said proudly. She looked at their admiring eyes, a feeling of belongingness enveloping her. (69 words)
Suddenly, Kelly came up with an idea. “Why not experience the beautiful festival together ” She suggested making boats with lighted candles to float on the lake. Everyone was fascinated by it, feeling eager to celebrate something exotic. At that moment, Kelly wondered whether it was time to forget the warm Thailand temporarily. Cold as the climate was, deep in her heart was glowing warmth. She would let go of her homesickness, and accept her second home wholeheartedly, not only for her parents, but more importantly, for herself. (80 words)
范文二
After dinner, the party went on and the talk turned to the coming holidays. All the children present immediately burst into cheers. They talked about their familiar American festivals one after another. Finally, it was Kelly’s turn. With her face flaming with shyness and her head lowered, Kelly gradually began to introduce her favorite Thailand festivals intended for thanking the Mother of Water. Everyone listened carefully with burning curiosity. Slowly, a surge of confidence rose inside Kelly and she raised up her voice, pouring out words.
Suddenly, Kelly came up with an idea. She ran to the garden, returning with several leaves. Clearing her throat, she announced, “Let’s make a boat and celebrate the festival!” Everyone took the leaves to make them into little boats decorated with one colorful candle each, and then put them into the bathtub. Kelly turned off the light, little boats flowing on the water, like dots of star blinking in the darkness. All the children including Kelly, put their palms together, closed their eyes and made a wish. Right at that moment, a thought occurred to Kelly that she could fit in the new home as long as she made an attempt.

D They refused to read it without hesitation.
5. What is Trevor Muir’s attitude towards teaching paper map skill for kids
A. Neutral. B. Negative. C. Supportive. D. Doubtful.
6. Which of the following will the author agree with
A. Paper maps are already out of date.
B. Internet connections are always reliable.
C. Paper maps provide kids with a grand vision.
