As the hottest time of the year, Sanfu begins on July 11th this year. In Chinese lunar calendar, Sanfu, also known as the hottest days of summer, refers to(指) the three 10-day periods that are called Toufu, Zhongfu and Mofu.
Sanfu usually comes between mid-July to mid-August. To cool off the heat(热量) in summer, ancient Chinese people often made special cooling food and drinks, such as duck soup, sour plum(梅) juice and green bean soup.
What's more, Sanfu days are thought to be the best time to treat(治疗) winter illness. Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners(TCM) (中医) often use Sanfutie to treat coughs(咳嗽) and arthritis(关节炎). It is a kind of patch(胶布) made of Chinese herbal medicine(中药).
