Different students have different opinions on oversharing on social media. Some think it’s all right, but some think it’s annoying.
As for me, I’m against oversharing. Firstly, oversharing is a waste of time. As high school students, we should spend our time on study instead of showing off on social media. Secondly, oversharing is considered as bad manners. Nobody likes those who flood the screen. Posting too much is not only a waste of other people’s time, but even a distraction.
So when sharing on social media, we’d stick to the principle of fewer but better.

Maybe those old books were the solution to the problem. They wouldn’t cost anything so Madhuri could accept without any pressure. I went to mom and my brother immediately. After hearing Madhuri’s situation and my plan, my brother was quite willing to help. We sorted out the needed books for Madhuri together very quickly. Looking at the neatly piled books, I felt quite satisfied and delighted but suddenly a concern flashed across my mind, “Would Madhuri mind they are second-hand books ”
The next day, I got up early so that I could go to her house before going to school. Not knowing whether she would accept the books or not, I knocked at the door nervously. When the door opened, I could see her surprised expression. Hearing that these books were old books of my brother, she accepted them without hesitation. I also got a weight off my mind. On the way to school, I could see from her face how happy she was. From that day on, something changed and as the days passed and the years moved on, Madhuri and I became best friends.石河子部分中学2023-2024学年高二上学期11月月考

The sky began to show red in the early morning as we drove across the Minnesota state line to New York for my new PhD program. The move was good for me professionally, but I worried about my husband and daughters. I also feared that I wouldn’t be able to give my kids the childhood they deserved.
Anne, our first daughter, came into the world when I was a junior majoring in biology in college. It was challenging to balance classes, work schedules, and being a mom. But I got through it, finding moments of joy along the way. On the nights when I was home, I’d read my class notes out loud with my daughter. She’d respond by asking questions, such as “Mom, what are bacteria (细菌) ” It helped us both learn.
After I graduated, I knew that I would need a PhD to land the kind of job I wanted. I arrived in New York feeling more than the usual new-graduate-student anxiety. I also suffered from a more personal fear that I was being selfish—that my decision to invigorate my career was going to have long- term bad impacts on my kids. So, I made a rule to never be visibly upset about my work in front of my children.
Over the past year, though, I’ve started to let go of some of this worry. I’ve realized that we have not only adapted to our new situation, but things are getting better. My husband landed a job that he is happy with. Anne dreams of becoming a biologist. Recently, while driving past the cancer institute I work at, Anne said, “Thinking about people having cancer is so sad, but I feel better knowing that you are researching it to help.”
Pursuing academic career as a young mother is hard, but it’s also rewarding. My kids are learning to look at the world through science, and watching their mom succeed inspires them. I look forward to seeing them follow my footsteps, whatever path they choose.

C.Her mother takes her job seriously. D.She is ready to help patients with cancer.
17.What might be the best title of the text
A.Ups and Downs in Life B.Like Mother Like Daughter

Artificial Intelligence has been around for many years. But it’s recently gotten much media attention because of an AI application called ChatGPT. ChatGPT is an advanced AI chatbot trained by OpenAI which interacts in a conversational way. The dialogue form makes it possible for ChatGPT to answer followup questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect places, and reject inappropriate requests.
It has reached 100 million users just two months after launching, according to analysts. ChatGPT has taken the world by storm since it launched last November. The AI chatbot answers questions online in text in a human-like way, and it can also write its responses in different styles, for example, that of a student writing an essay.
ChatGPT technology can help people write code (编码) quickly and accurately with the help of natural language. ChatGPT can take a text prompt (提示) and generate code that is tailored to the given task. This technology has the potential to cut down development time, as it can generate code quickly and accurately. It can also help reduce the risk of errors, as ChatGPT is capable of generating code that can be tested and used immediately.
Some teachers are worried about how many of their pupils are using it to do their homework and have written to parents warning them about it. Others say they can spot its essay, and there are now tools which claim to be able to differentiate human text from that written by artificial intelligence.
But the cat is out of the bag, and now the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) says its students can take advantage of the tech, just like using a calculator (计算器) to work out a maths problem, as long as they admit to it by both crediting ChatCPT in the text and adding a reference note at the end.
Good news for students, but ChatGPT’s knowledge database only goes up to September 2021, so it’s not very useful on topical subjects, and, as it gets its information from the internet, it can also be inaccurate.
18.What is paragraph 3 mainly about
A.The potential of ChatGPT. B.The benefits of ChatGPT.
C.How to use ChatGPT. D.How to generate code.
19.Why do some teachers write to parents
A.ChatGPT makes academic research easy. B.ChatCPT can write without recognition.
C.The content of ChatGPT are entirely new. D.Many pupils use ChatCPT to do homework.
20.What can we know from what IBO says about ChatCPT
A.Pupils can conditionally take advantage of it.
B.Teachers can tell human text from that by AI.
C.Its knowledge database is updated to this day.
D.Pupils can use it to do homework without thinking.
21.What is the author’s attitude towards students’ using ChatGPT
A.Confident. B.Objective. C.Indifferent. D.Subjective.
D
From July 19 to 24, I travelled to the Shiyanghe Basin in Wuwei, located in the heart of a desert in Northwest China’s Gansu province. Looking down from the plane on the way to the destination, all I saw was endless ranges of desert mountains and sands, which made it a breathtaking transformation when I saw green gardens and fruit farms upon arrival.
A local farmer in this landscape shared his success story of enlarging his farm through greenhouse crop production with me. Thanks to the greenhouse technology, his farm has grown from 10 workers, to around 100 within 10 years. The key role of women in agriculture is also praised, as their contributions increase the energy of the landscape.
We also visited a greenhouse with vertical (垂直的) watermelon farming. It was a well-aired, strategically positioned structure with shade cloth, vertical supports, drip irrigation (滴灌), good lighting, and insect management. It was amazing how technology can transform limited space into a great agricultural powerhouse, which not only increases outputs but also reduces environmental impact. What’s even more impressive is that it’s a great approach: It doesn’t stop at farming but can be used in food processing industries. This ensures that the journey from seed to consumers is seamless (无缝的), maintaining product quality and reducing waste.
I learned that Wuwei, although located in a region famous for its dryness, has attempted to become a major supplier of fruits and vegetables, competing with other regions in southern China which have sufficient water resources and good weather conditions. Through advanced irrigation techniques like drip systems, controlled environments, and effective resource management, they show the power of sustainable agriculture and the untiring spirit of those who transform deserts into fruitful landscapes.
22.What can we learn about the local farmer from paragraph 2
A.He has more than 100 workers on his farm.
B.He is a new-type farmer who likes to share stories.
C.He is successful in adopting greenhouse technology.
D.He doesn’t admit women’s contribution to agriculture.
23.What is the third paragraph mainly about
A.A pleasant visiting experience. B.Benefits of watermelon farming.
C.Traditional agricultural approaches. D.A greenhouse with advanced techniques.
24.According to the author, what is special about Wuwei
A.It has enough water resources.
B.It experiences drought most often.
C.It has the same conditions with southern regions.
D.It establishes fruitful landscapes in the desert area.
25.Where is the text most probably taken from
A.A newspaper. B.A guidebook. C.A research paper. D.A book review.

Many years ago, I was at a girls’ school and our teacher made all the girls in the class sit next to someone different every day.
On one of the days, my teacher paired Madhuri, who I had never talked to, and me to sit next to each other. I noticed that she seemed very anxious. I asked her what was wrong. She remained silent at first, but eventually, she told me that she had three sisters in her family and that her father couldn’t afford school books for all of them.
My primary school was strict, as was the standard then, and if you didn’t have your school books the teacher would make you leave the class. Madhuri was very anxious that day because she thought that the teacher would tell her to leave the class. When the teacher saw that she didn’t have the books, he told Madhuri that she couldn’t attend class for a week.
Madhuri was very sad. I felt so bad when I saw her pain that I decided to help her. I went to speak to her and offered to buy the books for her. She refused my offer to help. She had very strong principles and she would never accept things bought by others.
When I got home from school I told my mom the story. She said that it was good that I had tried to help but I should stop worrying about it because there was nothing more that I could do if she had refused my offer to help. I couldn’t stop worrying about it though. Then I had an idea. My elder brother, who had once used the same series of books, graduated from school last year. Why not turn to him for help
