on the way, your train has a buffet car (餐车), so you can have something nice to eat.

第二节 阅读匹配(共 5 小题;每小题 2 分,满分 10 分)阅读下面的短文,从所给的 A~E
五个选项中,选出正确的答案填空,使短文通顺,内容完整。
How can we use vocabulary and grammar in English to show politeness and kindness when we speak (32)
Use modals
Modals are those words you learned in English classes such as would, could, might and may.
(33) They soften your requests or commands (命令). If you use modals the next time you send a request by email, ask for something on the phone, or when you need something from a friend, you'll sound more polite! For example: I need to use your pen for a moment. →May I use your pen for a moment
Use vague language
Vague language means not too specific (明确的) or too direct. We often use expressions such as a bit, around, kind of, a few, quite, slightly, and a little. (34) For example: That's not quite what I had in mind. What if we made a few changes
Change your grammar
(35) Here's how you can do this. Change the present tense ( 时 态 ) to the past tense or a progressive (﹣ing) tense. Your meaning is still in the present, but you change the verb to add softness and to be less direct. We often do this with verbs such as hope, feel, think, want, and wonder. For example: Do you have time to meet tomorrow (36)
(
Using a modal can change a direct question into a polite
request.
These expressions can give less direct
information.
We
can change the sentence into I was wondering if you would be free to meet me
tomorrow.
Here are some great ideas for
you.
Sometimes we change the grammar tense to be more
polite.

Reading is a very important skill. (61) Reading is also a good way to improve your English.
However,to make sure what you read isn't too difficult,it's important to know what makes texts difficult and how you can improve your understanding of them. Here are some suggestions.
*Understand the purpose (目的) of your reading. (62) 你阅读的方法取决于你阅读的目的。The kind of reading you do in class or for your homework is different from how you read a novel for pleasure in the summer holidays.
*Find background (背景) information. Find something out about the topic you are going to read.
The more background information you have, the easier it'll be to understand the text.
*Increase your vocabulary (词汇). (63) 你拥有的词汇越多,你就阅读得越快。
*Use your dictionary correctly. (64) A common mistake is to read everything very slowly and carefully. Looking up each unknown word. Sometimes this is necessary, for example, when reading exam questions. However, it takes a long time and can be very boring; it can even make understanding more difficult!
If you've followed the above advice and still can't understand a text, then it's simply too hard for you. Stop reading and ask someone to help you. No one wants to give up. (65)However, you will just be wasting (浪费) your time if you continue to work at a text that's beyond you.
