Scotland is packed with beautiful places to visit and you could honestly spend months and months exploring everything this wonderful country has to offer! Next I’m going to take you through some of the best places to visit in Scotland, based on where we have personally visited so far!
Glen Coe
If you asked me where my favourite place to visit in all of Scotland is... I would say, Glen Coe. The whole area of Glen Coe constantly had my face in shock due to the beauty that I was witnessing. It’s just a stream of dramatic mountains, lakes, rugged beauty and more.
Fort William
Fort William is probably one of the most well-known places to visit in Scotland. It’s a popular tourist destination thanks to being home to the UK’s tallest mountain: Ben Nevis. Fort William is also the starting point for one of the world’s most famous train rides: The Jacobite. Harry Potter fans will recognize it as the Hogwarts Express, and this train ride will take you through the beautiful countryside, crossing some iconic Harry Potter filming locations such as the Dumbledore’s Grave and the Glenfinnan Viaduct!
Isle Of Skye
This island feels totally different from other parts of Scotland and is truly rugged and ready! There are many hot spots to explore including the Old Man of Storr, the Fairy Glen. I even stayed on a private island with its very own lighthouse, which was one of the coolest places I’ve ever visited and one of the most romantic places stay in Scotland.
Cairngorms National Park
This is the largest national park in the UK so it’s another popular place to visit in Scotland and it’s no surprise why. It’s absolutely beautiful and there’s so much happening at the Cairngorms National Park! From skiing or meeting local reindeers, you’ll not go bored and you’ll be surrounded by beauty the entire time.

C. Cairngorms National Park. D. Fort William.
22. What can you meet in Cairngorms National Park
A. The Jacobite. B. Local reindeers.
C. The UK's tallest mountain. D. A cool lighthouse.
23. Where is the text probably from

Anthony Doerr's new bestseller, All the Light We Cannot See, holds special appeal for me. That's how I would describe it. From the poetic language, to the realization of what the tile actually means: that underneath the surface of history, there is light that has not been seen, and stories that have gone untold.
I'm going to be honest-love for this book didn't hit me straight away. In fact, my first attempt to read it last month ended with me putting it aside and going to find something easier, lighter and less descriptive to read. But this book is built on beautiful imagery. Both in the literal sense—the physical world of 1940s Paris and Germany, and the metaphorical(隐喻性的) sense—scientific and philosophical references to light, to seeing and not seeing, and the differences between the two. It's a beautiful work of genius, but it does get a little complicated at times.
However, when we get into the meat of this World War II novel, it's also an upsetting story of a childhood torn apart by war. It's about Parisian Marie Laure who has been blind since she was six, and a German orphan called Werner who finds himself at the center of the Hitler Youth. Both of their stories are told with sensitivity and sympathy, each one forced down a path by their personal circumstances and by that destructive monster-war.
I think this is the kind of book you will never appreciate if you stop too soon-I learned that lesson. From the first to last page, there is a theme of invisible lines running parallel (平行的) to one another and sometimes, just sometimes, crossing in the strangest way. These two lives we are introduced to seem to be worlds apart, and yet they come together and influence one another. It was this, more than the predictably awful tale of war that made me feel quite emotional.
24. What does the writer think of the book
A. Light and easy to read. B. Rich in philosophical ideas.
C. Fascinating but too descriptive. D. Too complicated for its theme.
25. What can we learn about Marie Laure and Werner
A. The war leads to their sensitivity.
B. They know each other at an early age.
C. The Hitler Youth pushes them to grow.
D. They both have a miserable childhood.
26. What particularly stirred the writer's emotions
A. The book's dramatic ending. B. The book's beautiful imagery.
C. The characters' interconnected destiny. D. The suffering brought by World War II.
27. What is the purpose of this text
A. To share the writer's feelings of a book.
B. To recommend a delightful bestseller.
C. To tell readers a heartbreaking story.
D. To analyze the structure of a book.
C
These days, there’s a green version of just about everything. There are cars that run on electricity and alternative fuels, houses that are powered by solar energy and wind farms seemingly popping up on every open space from California to coastal Japan. Even drones are getting in on the action. The unmanned air vehicles are also being put to environmental uses around the globe.
The eye in the sky that they provide helps researchers better understand what's going on with the natural world in which we live. For environmentalists and earth scientists, the flying machines can be sent way up in the air to record sweeping footage of a large area to track the impact of things like climate change, migration and the acts of cutting down and burning forest trees, which can be done without having to buy a helicopter, rent a plane or tape a video camera to a bird.
Sure, there’s plenty of satellite footage already out there, but drones let researchers accurately position the data set that they want to get a quicker, closer look at the area that they're looking to monitor. In 2013, for example, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) sent a drone into the Turrialba Volcano in Costa Rica to gather data about its emissions. The temperature, ash height and gas concentration information collected during the mission helped earth scientists determine which way the volcanic and potentially poisonous gas erupting from the volcano was moving and take steps to limit its environmental impact.
Similarly, Arctic researchers are using drones to help study temperature change and the melting of glaciers. They use drones equipped with infrared(红外线的) cameras to sweep into places that they may otherwise not be able to reach to monitor and collect data on the melting ice. The same flying machines may also eventually be used to transport other data collection tools into the wild.
28. How does the author lead in the topic of the text
A. By giving examples. B. By listing data.
C. By drawing a distinction. D. By making assumptions.
29. What mainly makes drones used to better watch nature
A. The high safety.
B. The huge space.
C. The recovery capability after damage.
D. The ability to collect data at a high altitude.
30. What do the last two paragraphs mainly tell us about drones
A. Their production steps.
B. Their practical functions.
C. Their potential impacts on the atmosphere.
D. Their data set for monitoring the environment.
31. Which is a suitable title for the text
A. Drones: Poisonous B. Drones: Eco-friendly
C. Drones: Limited D. Drones: Adaptable
D
Swot satellite is scheduled to be launched Thursday morning to conduct a comprehensive survey of Earth's vital resource. By using advanced microwave radar technology it will collect height-surface measurements of oceans, lakes and rivers in high-definition detail over 90% of the globe. It's really the first time to observe nearly all water on the planet's surface.
The major mission is to explore how oceans help to minimize climate change by absorbing atmospheric heat and carbon dioxide in a natural process. Oceans are estimated to have absorbed more than 90% of the extra heat trapped in the Earth's atmosphere by human-caused greenhouse gases Swot will scan the seas from the orbit and precisely measure fine differences in surface elevations(高度)around smaller currents and eddies(漩涡),where much of the oceans' decrease of heat and carbon is believed to occur.“Studying the mechanism will help climate scientists answer a key question: What is the turning point at which oceans start releasing, rather than absorbing, huge amounts of heat back into the atmosphere and speed up global warming, rather than limiting it,”said Nadya Shiffer, Swot's program scientist.
By comparison, earlier studies of water bodies relied on data of rivers or oceans taken at specific points, or from satellites that can only track measurements along, a one-dimensional line, requiring scientists to fill in data gaps through extrapolation(外推法).Thanks to the radar instrument, Swot can scan through cloud cover and darkness over wide ranges of the Earth. This enables scientists to accurately map their observations in two dimensions regardless of weather or time of day and to cover large geographic areas far more quickly than was previously possible.
“Rather than giving us a line of elevations, it's giving us a map of elevations, and that's just a total game changer,” said Tamlin Pavelsky, Swot freshwater science leader.
32. What does the underlined expression“vital resource” in the first paragraph refer to?
A. Technology. B. Climate. C. Oceans. D. Water.
33. What is the major mission of Swot?
A. To explore the influences of greenhouse gases.
B. To explain the consequence of global warming.
C. To identify the causes of water absorbing heat and CO2.
D. To study the mechanism of oceans influencing climate
34. What makes it possible for Swot to measure precisely
A. The high-definition computer. B. Advanced radar technology.
C. The three-dimensional image. D. An accurate map of elevations.
35. Which is the most suitable title for the text
A. A Solution to Climate Change
B. A Breakthrough in Space Travel
C. First Global Water Survey from Space
D. The Successful Launch of Swot Satellite

It was this, more than the predictably awful tale of war, that made me feel quite emotional.(我们被介绍的这两种生活似乎是两个不同的世界,但他们走到一起,互相影响。正是这一点,而不是那些可以预见的可怕的战争故事,让我感到非常激动。)”可知,打动作者的正是这种人物相互关联的命运。故选C。
27.答案:A

From the first to last page, there is a theme of invisible lines running parallel(平行的)to one another and sometimes, just sometimes, crossing in the strangest way. 故选A。
