At the age of 5, Laura Lee developed what most people would consider a strange hobby—collecting toilet rolls (卫生纸筒), which finally became a nationwide recycling movement in Singapore.
In 2018, 15-year-old Laura started ToiletRollSG, with the goal of collecting one ton of toilet rolls within a year. About two years later, Laura collected 860 kilograms. Besides, Laura went into partnership with waste management company Veolia. For every kilogram collected, the company gave 5 cents in return, and then Laura donated (捐赠) the money to support social causes. That has encouraged many more students to join her. As a main organizer, she received a governmental EcoFriend Award in 2021.
When asked why she became interested in collecting toilet rolls, Laura explains, “They are convenient to collect, because they are made of only one material. Things like pens are more difficult to recycle, because they are made up of many different materials, which requires more resources to separate.” She hopes this movement will help encourage young people to cut down on the use of these single-use things, which will create a ripple effect (连锁反应).
What’s more, Laura often gives public speeches about recycling at local schools. But because of COVID-19, she has to give up face-to-face communication, and instead uses the Internet to call attention to different environmental issues. “Start small, be-kind, and know that your actions go a long way,” Laura states.

54.Which of the following is TRUE according to this text

You probably have the childhood memories of watching the Slinky walk its way down the stairs. The helical (螺旋形的) spring toy was invented by Richard James in 1943. While James was testing ways to keep equipment safe on the U. S. Navy Ships, one of the springs fell and began to “walk”. Seeing the spring can be marketed as a toy, he took the idea home to his wife Betty, who named it the Slinky after looking through a dictionary.
In 1945, James perfected the design of the Slinky, which was about 24 metres of wire shaped into a helical five centimetre-tall spring. The new product was a hit: By the end of the 1945 holiday season 22, 000 Slinkys had been sold. It went on to become the must-have toy of the mid to late 20th century. Many reasons have been given for the Slinky’s popularity: “It’s cheap.” “It teaches kids physics.” “Children love simple things.” and so on.
As a child, making a Slinky step perfectly from the top of the stairs to the bottom is exciting. The Slinky gets its “walking” ability from two properties: wave motions and Newton’s laws. Sitting at the top of the stairs, the Slinky remains-unchanged, like all objects that are not being moved by other forces. When the Slinky is knocked off the first step, gravity acts upon its coil. Then energy is transferred (传递) from coil to coil until it arrives at the end of the slinky, which makes it stretch to reach the next step down, reform itself, then stretch again to reach the next step, and so on.
56.In which part of a newspaper can you read the text
A.Art. B.Nature. C.Invention. D.Culture.
57.What can we know about James according to the text

A.High technology. B.Low price.
C.Holiday seasons. D.Funny shapes.
59.What does the underlined word “coil” mean in the text
A.柱子 B.线圈 C.底座 D.铁链
60.What’s the main idea of the last paragraph
A.The physics of a Slinky. B.The process of energy transference.
C.The importance of gravity. D.The science project about Newton’s laws.

In 2021, the net population growth (人口净增长) of China was only 480, 000, the lowest over the last 60 years. And all the signs show that China will see negative population growth in the near future. It has to be pointed out that China is still a developing country, and negative population growth in most cases has happened in the developed countries.
Now, what is urgent(紧急的) for our policymakers is to deal with the decreasing population growth, because our country still needs labor to keep growth. Our country’s pro-birth policies are underdeveloped now, and they do not match the need to encourage women to have babies. Considering this, the National Health Commission has made every effort to improve public childcare services, introduce more holidays and make the holiday system more flexible (灵活的) and strictly carried out. But that’s far from enough to deal with the root causes of the problem.
In the first place, exorbitant housing prices and underdeveloped public rental housing system have brought down the marriage rate in the country. Second, the houses in the communities near the prestigious schools aren’t affordable for a common family. As a result, it has become increasingly difficult for children from low-income (收入) families to receive a good education. Also, the quality of labor and production efficiency are hard to improve with-education resources becoming more exclusive (独有的) to the rich.
Besides, the shortage of a mature business environment and an unfair distribution of wealth also bring forward our country’s decreasing population growth.
Since we have found out these problems, what should we do next
