Do you take a school bus If not, you might know someone who does. There are about 480,000 school buses on the road every day in the United States. Most of them run on diesel fuel(柴油). Diesel fumes(废气) pollute the air and they may also be bad for people's health or make health problems worse.
“When kids are on the bus or just at school near buses, they are placed in the diesel fumes,” said Casale, the director of the United States Public Interest Research Group. The group hopes all schools can use electric school buses.
Electric buses run on batteries(电池). They can run for 150 miles on a single charge(充电). The best news is that they won't produce waste gas and won't pollute the environment.
Buying an electric school bus won't be cheap. A common diesel bus sells for about ?$400, 000. An electric bus costs around ?$750, 000. Many school districts(学区) can't afford that price. But the cost of an electric bus will be much less than that of a diesel bus if they run the same distance.
Casale says the diesel fuel is unacceptable. When we know how bad it is for kids and there are better choices, choosing electric buses is clear. Of course, we also need to reduce(减少) the cost and cut down the price of electric buses so that more school districts can afford them.
1.The first paragraph mainly tells us ________.
A.air pollution in the US
B.people's health problems
C.diesel fuel's harm
D.the kinds of illnesses
2.If an electric school bus runs 50 miles every day, it can run at most ________ days after a single charge.
A.two B.three C.four D.five
3.Why haven't many school districts used an electric school bus so far?( )
A.Because buying an electric school bus costs much more money.
B.Because a diesel fuel school bus runs faster on the road.
C.Because there aren't enough electric school buses in the US.
D.Because a diesel fuel school bus is safer than an electric one.

Does this situation sound familiar(熟悉的)
You are complaining(抱怨) to your parents about something. Maybe your computer isn't powerful enough to play the latest games. Or your friends' bikes are better than yours! Then you hear, “When I was your age, there weren't any computers or video games. And I didn't get a bike until I was sixteen. And it was second hand, and it was too big for me.”
So, is it really true that life is better for teenagers now It is certainly true that many teenagers have got more things nowadays. A typical family is smaller now. So parents have got more money to spend on each child. And many things are cheaper than they were when our parents were children.
Technology is probably the greatest change in our life. Forty years ago, no one could imagine a world with tiny computers and amazing smart phones. And now these things are necessary. We can't imagine living without them!
However, technology often means we spend more time at home. And often it's just us, with our computer or television. Teenagers don't do enough exercise. So they aren't as healthy as they were in the past.
